Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge

Deep in the bushveld overlooking a waterhole and an open plain, lies a lodge that pulses to the rhythm of Africa’s heartbeat. This is Bush Lodge, steeped in tradition, vibrant and warm, the Sabi Sabi of “Today”. With a history spanning over 40 years, the lodge has earned a reputation of a “luxury home in the bush”, service excellence and effortless personal attention. The conventional safari style showcases a vibrant and eclectic mix of furnishings and décor garnered from all corners of the African continent.

Bush Lodge has been sensitively designed to allow ample space to relax, unwind and savour the tranquility of the bush. The two swimming pools and large covered viewing decks overhanging the Msuthlu riverbed are an invitation to cool off in the filtered water or sit in comfort while spotting game at the well-utilised pan. An exquisitely furnished lounge, atrium and intimate bar area are perfect meeting places for friends old and new. As an extra indulgence, the Amani spa at Bush Lodge offers the ultimate African Spa experience.

Two exquisite new Luxury Villas at Bush Lodge have been created as an extension of the lodge’s philosophy of being the first choice in your safari destination in Africa. The suites exude luxury and comfort in the contemporary Bush Lodge style. A huge master bedroom with king sized draped four-poster bed leads onto an en-suite bathroom complete with indoor and outdoor shower and his & her baths. A second bedroom which leads into a private bathroom featuring a big bath and open ‘rain’ shower.

Sabi Sabi is situated within the Sabie Game Reserve, a recognised ‘hot spot’ of biodiversity which makes for an astonishing variety of wildlife - including over 200 mammal and 300 bird species. Morning and evening safaris are enjoyed in open safari vehicles with close encounters with the Big 5 being a regular occurrence. Environmental awareness walking safaris add an extra dimension to the bush experience, allowing a close-up look at the fascinating smaller creatures of the bushveld.

Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge

Sculpted into a slope of the earth, Earth Lodge’s organic architecture awakens the senses with a masterful use of texture, space and light. Everywhere there is evidence of nature at work, with almost every facet of the lodge inspired by the surrounding environment.

The clean lines and natural finishes are the perfect foil for the luxury, grandeur and lavish touches that epitomise Earth Lodge – individual splash pools for each suite, a butler, ultra-luxurious bathrooms, magnificent wooden carvings, sculpted furniture and an underground wine cellar that is home to over 6,000 bottles of rare, special wines.

Home to 12 ultra-luxurious suites, the lodge breaks with traditional bush lodge style to create a masterpiece of elegance, futuristic style and luxury. Each suite features a private pool, butler, en-suite glass fronted bathroom, outdoor shower and specially commissioned furnishings. The indoor-outdoor dining area overlooks a waterhole and unending bush, and the lodge has a library, underground wine cellar, Zen garden and Amani Spa.

Uninterrupted bush stretches in front of Earth Lodge – a taste of the Big 5, open vehicle safari experience that draws guests back time and again.

Sabi Sabi Little Bush Camp

Hidden in the shade of indigenous riverine trees, on the banks of the Msuthlu River, lies Little Bush Camp, the smallest and most secluded of Sabi Sabi’s 5-star lodges. With its subtle elegance and classic safari style, the lodge is an oasis of peace and tranquillity.

Little Bush Camp is ideal for exclusive use by small groups and friends. The lodge offers six stunning suites, featuring private decks overlooking the riverbed and surrounding natural bush. Meals are a delicious culinary experience, with dinners being served in the beautiful outdoor dining “boma” surrounded by natural bushveld.

Each widely spaced-apart thatched suite, complete with its king-size bed and romantic, draped mosquito netting, is individually styled using African artifacts, beautiful wooden furnishings and luxurious linens. The deluxe en-suite bathrooms include both indoor and outdoor showers, while the new heated spa bath on each secluded deck offers a delightfully decadent vantage point from which to relax and enjoy nature.

There are also two safaris per day. One in the morning and another in the afternoon/evening. The duration is 3 hours each, with a morning and afternoon coffee/sundowner stop.

Sabi Sabi Selati Camp

In the waning light of the late 19th century, the first railway lines snaked through the Mpumalanga lowveld, built to carry gold from Phalaborwa to Lourenco Marques in Mocambique. Further south, on the Selati Line, passenger trains slowly chugged into Newington Station, with conductors peering up into the trees against which were long ladders - provided by the railway company to enable travellers to climb to safety, away from the marauding lions which prowled the area.

Born of history, inspired by the legends of hidden bullion and fearless hunters, the exquisite seven suite Selati Camp is a tangible reminder of this grand steam train era. Railway museums and storerooms yielded authentic memorabilia which have been artfully incorporated into the décor of this 5-star jewel of the bushveld, blending creatively with sumptuous furnishings, antiques and rich linens.

Each of the suites, romantically named after long-gone railway stations, is intimate and comfortable. “Out of Africa” styling, en-suite bathrooms, and cleverly concealed air-conditioning and electricity maintain the historical theme.

Unforgettable day and night safaris are enjoyed in open safari vehicles with close encounters with the Big 5 being a regular occurrence. Environmental awareness walking safaris add an extra dimension to the bush experience, allowing a close-up look at the fascinating smaller creatures of the bushveld.
