Day 1-3: Tembo Plains Camp (Mana Pools National Park)

Tembo Plains, meaning “Elephant Plains” is built in the thick riverine forest on the edge of the Zambezi River, in the private 128,000 hectare Sapi Reserve, which is just east of Zimbabwe’s Mana Pools National Park.

 
What makes Tembo Plains’ design genuinely unique is the combination of canvas and stone walls, an architectural reference to the Zimbabwe Ruins. Outside this packstone wall design continues along the back of the guest accommodation, affording guests greater privacy whilst leaving uninterrupted views of Zambezi river flowing just meters away.

Painted dogs (wild dogs), lions and leopards are seen increasingly whilst buffalo, and of course, elephants, which are often seen daily in front of the camp.

Day 4-6: Victoria Falls Hotel (Zimbabwe)

The Victoria Falls Hotel, popularly known as “the grand old lady of the Falls”, is situated in the Victoria Falls National Park, and is a member of the exclusive Leading Hotels of the World group. It is one of only three IS0-accredited hotels in Zimbabwe. The Edwardian-style five-star hotel combines the charm of the old with the convenience of the new.

 
The famous Victoria Falls are just a ten-minute walk away using the hotel’s private pathway, and “the smoke that thunders” or “Mosi-O-Tunya” in the local dialect, is clearly audible and visible from this luxurious landmark.

Day 7-9: King’s Pool (Linyanti Concession)

King’s Pool consistently delivers the best dry season game viewing in far northern Botswana. Situated on the border with Namibia’s Caprivi Strip, King’s Pool is in an area vital to the seasonal movements of elephant herds, and to the survival of rare roan and sable antelope. Looking down over the Linyanti River, and up from the safety of sunken hides gives guests unexpected angles from which to witness great wildlife moments.

 
Seven well-appointed twins and one suite, all of canvas, wood and thatch, soak up the views of the lagoon. The main area, deck and bar offer uninterrupted views, with closer proximity to the water, while parts of the roof extend down to ensure privacy.

Day 10-12: Xigera Safari Lodge (NG12 Concession)

Xigera Safari Lodge is located in the Moremi Game Reserve with private access to a 4,500-hectare (11 120-acre) wetland paradise in the heart of the Delta. Situated on one of the Okavango’s key waterways, Xigera Safari Lodge is surrounded by picturesque papyrus swamps and wooded islands and is renowned for its very high density of sitatunga antelope.

 
Guests are sometimes treated to close-up views of lion or leopard using the footbridge connecting Xigera to the next island! This concession lies in an International Birding Area (IBA) with many ‘Okavango specials’ being present, including Pel’s Fishing-Owl, African Skimmer, Brown Firefinch, Greater Swamp Warbler, Wattled Crane, African Pygmy Goose and Lesser Jacana.

Day 13-14: Londolozi Private Granite Suites (Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve)

The 5-star Londolozi Granite Suites are set on the banks of the Sand River in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve which shares unfenced borders with the world renowned Kruger National Park.

 
Game drives at Londolozi are taken by professional, passionate and knowledgeable rangers and trackers, who amongst them have a wealth of 350 years of experience. With over 15 000 hectares of traversing wilderness, no two game drives are ever the same. Trackers sit up at the front of the Land Rover looking for fresh animal tracks, while rangers drive with astonishing skill into ravines and through thicket in pursuit of elusive animals, simultaneously wowing guests with their outstanding knowledge and unforgettable stories.

 
 

Day 15: The Silo Hotel (Cape Town)

The Silo is a magical space towering above the V&A Waterfront surrounded by the natural wonder of South Africa’s Mother City. The Silo hs 28 rooms, including a spectacular penthouse. Each room has been individually designed and decorated by the stylish wand of Liz Biden. Colourful and eclectic pieces juxtapose the modern, industrial architecture.

 
The building has been designed by Thomas Heatherwick, Founder and Principal of the London-based Heatherwick Studio. From the outside, the greatest visible change to the building’s original structure is the addition of pillowed glazing panels, inserted into the geometry of the hotel floors, which will bulge outward as if gently inflated. By night, this transforms the building into a glowing lantern or beacon in the harbour.
